Double decker dinner

An invite came through from an old school friend last week inviting me to her birthday dinner. She spent a few years working in Italy recently and wanted to try out this Italian restaurant she'd heard about on the Kings Road. "Sounds good to me", I thought but my excitement turned to intrigue as she went on to explain that the restaurant was a double decker one. "You mean it's just a normal two-floor restaurant?" or "you're eating on a bus?" were two of the responses I got when I mentioned my meal to friends during the week. The answer was no as I turned up to Buona Sera at the Jam on Saturday night to discover a double decker restaurant looks something like this.....

Above each of the ground floor tables were top floor ones which you got to by climbing up little stairs. If you're slightly scared of heights or are very accident prone this might not be the place for you, but if you like you're dinner with side offering of fun then this place ticks the box. We started off with a round of strawberry Bellinis, which went down very well.

On the menu were a series of different bruschettas to share for starters. We went for the naughty version, covered in cheese and with a layer of ham underneath. It's a good thing to order if there's an even number of you as it comes served as four pieces.

After much deliberation over what to order for mains I went for beef ragu gnocchi with mozzarella, which was rather yummy!

And then it was time for dessert. Being still on lent there was no pudding for me but that didn't stop Stef and Laura who shared a rather delicious looking ice cream sundae! I say shared once Laura managed to get it off of Stef!

The evening was a great laugh, and we all left with full happy bellies and an admiration for how the waitresses got up and down the ladders without spilling anything! I did not make a graceful exit getting down the stairs I can tell you!  If you're looking for somewhere fun and relaxing to go with friends in West London then check out this place soon. Cheers!
laura and everyone
